2020 ICFJ Community/Data Manager Recruitment

The ICFJ Community/Data Manager will help drive ICFJ’s strategy to identify, engage and catalyze our unparalleled global network of journalists. The manager will work to strengthen participants’ connection with ICFJ and with one another. Our goal: to offer ongoing support to the journalists in our network by building a sense of community, facilitating collaborations, and providing access to expertise and resources. We also aim to demonstrate our global reach and experience, and scale the impact of our work to benefit an even broader range of journalists and news media.
The ideal network manager candidate ideally has experience in building international associations or memberships, engaging communities on social media, and great writing and multimedia storytelling skills. The manager, supported by an assistant, will also oversee our database, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and complete.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The manager will focus on:
Community Engagement
- Identify participants in the network and ensure they understand the ongoing benefits of being connected with ICFJ
- Develop and implement an engagement and outreach strategy to be rolled out to participants and ICFJ staff
- Develop new resources to enrich members of the network (i.e., reporting grants, digital toolkits, events and research)
- Assist participants seeking collaborations, resources and expertise in the network
- Ensure that ICFJ Facebook groups and other social media groups (WhatsApp, Slack) stay vibrant
- Organize and attend convenings, virtually or in person
- Manage programs for ICFJ alumni
Storytelling and Communications
- Work with management on a branding plan and language to articulate ICFJ’s network-centered strategy to ICFJ staff stakeholders. Ensure consistency of network language across website
- Surface and showcase the outstanding impact of our network in multimedia stories on ICFJ’s websites and social media Data and Metrics
- Oversee our database of journalists, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and complete
- Work with external database consultant and assistant to maintain data accuracy and integrity
- Be accountable for timely and accurate data collection by program staff in Salesforce
- Use updated metrics to track and grow the number of people in our network and to capture their collective impact
REQUIREMENT
- 4 to 5 years of experience developing, organizing, and executing membership programs related to journalism, nonprofits or associations
- Communications/social media and cause-marketing experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field of study
- International experience (and fluency in a second language) is a plus
- An experienced storyteller and editor who can create memorable content for digital and social media
- Experience with data management/database administration and familiarity with Salesforce
- Strong skills in using digital/social media tools and platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with strong management, organizational, and presentation skills
- Creative strategist with an ability to effectively collaborate across teams
- Good multitasker who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
