2019 University of Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarship

The University of Glasgow is offering 4 scholarships (one per college) for applicants to the University who are staying in the UK on humanitarian grounds and are facing challenges in progressing onto Higher Education. The scholarship is open to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University of Glasgow applying for entry in 2019. The scholarship meets the full cost of tuition fees for the duration of your programme as well providing an additional £4,000 per year stipend, if the eligibility criteria for university accommodation is met this will also be provided for the duration of your degree.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible applicants must
- Hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for study at the University of Glasgow for 2019/20.
- Have submitted, or are the dependant of someone who has submitted, an application to the Home Office for recognition as a Refugee under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees (hereafter “The Convention”) and not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application.
- Have been offered leave to remain in the UK on the grounds of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights or under Paragraphs 276ADE – 276DH of the UK Immigration Rules, provided that the student has not become eligible for Student Support from the relevant student funding body in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
SCHOLARSHIP
The Humanitarian Scholarship provides:
- Full tuition fee waiver for the duration of study
- £4,000 per year stipend
- Accommodation costs for the duration of study (University of Glasgow accommodation only)
The Refugee Scholarship provides:
- For applicants with refugee status: £5000 per year stipend towards living costs per year of study
APPLICATION
Eligible applicants must complete the online application form. Once you have submitted your application online, you must email copies of the following documents in support of your application, to scholarships@glasgow.ac.uk This will allow us to confirm your immigration status in compliance with UK legislation.
If you are subject to Home Office Temporary Admission/Immigration Bail Reporting, please provide your:
• Application Registration Card (ARC) or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) – front and back
• Immigration Bail Reporting Notice (this may also be referred to as a Temporary Admission Document or BAIL 201) – please include every page of this document.
If you are not subject to Home Office Temporary Admission/Immigration Bail Reporting, please provide your:
• Application Registration Card (ARC) or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) – front and back
• The most recent documentation you have received from the Home Office in conjunction with your application/appeal – this should show your Home Office reference number.
