Chevening Scholarships enable outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK. If you have the passion and influence to solve pressing local, national, or global challenges, they strongly encourage you to apply.

Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded, leaving you free to focus on achieving your professional goals and maximising the experience of a lifetime. You will live and study in the UK for a year, during which time you will develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must: 

• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • If applying for an award from an ODA-eligible country, be resident in an ODA-eligible country. This does not have to be the country of citizenship, but all applicants must show a clear intention to support their country of award. 
  • If you live in a European overseas territory, you may apply through the relevant Chevening award scheme for the European country of which you are a citizen.
• Commit to returning to your home country (country of award) for at least two years after your scholarship ends.
• Have at least two years’ work experience, acquired after completing your undergraduate degree, equivalent to 2,800 hours.
• Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master’s programme. You must have finished your undergraduate studies at least two years before their application deadline, even if you have not yet received your certificate. However, you will need to have your certificate by the time of your interview.
• Apply to three different and eligible  UK university courses. You must have received an unconditional offer from at least one of these course choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline.

BENEFITS

A full Chevening Scholarship normally comprises:

• Payment of tuition fees.
• Economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only.
• An arrival allowance, paid once you have arrived in the UK.
• The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for you only.
• A departure allowance, paid once you have arranged to leave the UK at the end of your
  award.
• A contribution of up to £75 for TB testing, where this is required for your visa application.
• A travel top-up allowance to attend events in London. This is only applicable to those in
  receipt of non-London stipends.
• A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and living expenses.
  o The monthly stipend will depend on whether you are studying inside or outside of
  London.
  o These rates are subject to annual review.
  o Stipend payments will be made to you by the end of the month for the following full
  month.
  o Where your course starts or ends part way through the month, the stipend for that
  month will be adjusted as appropriate
