2026 Lund University Global Scholarship programme

Deadline: Around January/February 2026.

Each year, Lund University awards approximately SEK 20.5 million (€1.75 million / $1.85 million) in scholarship grants. This selective, merit-based scholarship programme is designed to recognise top academic students from outside the EU/EEA who are applying for degree programmes at Lund University.

As a top 100 university, ranked in the top 0.4% of universities worldwide, Lund University attracts high-achieving students globally. The Lund University Global Scholarship programme acknowledges academic excellence by offering grants to exceptional students.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Scholarship recipients are students with a proven track record of consistently high academic performance and a strong fit for Lund University’s programmes. The scholarship is highly selective, competitive, and based entirely on merit.

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of a country from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland) and be required to pay tuition fees.
  • You are applying in a regular application round to Master’s level studies leading to a degree at Lund University, or, exceptionally, for one of the Bachelor’s programmes in Development Studies, Mathematics, Physics and Physical Geography. The programme at Lund University that you are applying for a scholarship for should be your first choice in your application at universityadmissions.se.

Please note that special conditions may apply if you are applying to our programmes in Music and Fine arts.

BENEFITS

  • Grants may cover part or all of the tuition fees.
  • The percentage awarded depends on the programme/faculty budget and does not reflect the student’s academic standing.
  • Scholarships cover tuition fees only – living costs are not included.

APPLICATION

  1. To be eligible for the scholarship, you must first apply to a degree programme at Lund University via the national application website www.universityadmissions.se during the relevant application period.
  2. Once you’ve submitted a complete application and paid the application fee, you can apply for the scholarship through the scholarship application portal. The link to the scholarship application portal will be posted on this webpage when the application period begins. You will also receive an email from them with the link.
  3. The scholarship portal is separate from the national programme application portal.
  4. If you are applying to a Fine Art or Music programme or applying during the March–April round, and if there are scholarships available, you’ll receive specific application instructions by email.
  5. As part of your scholarship application, you will need to upload a personal ‘Scholarship Motivation Letter’ (maximum 600 words). This letter is distinct from any statement of purpose required for your programme application. Your motivation letter should explain why your academic achievements and reasons for applying to Lund University make you a strong candidate for the Lund University Global Scholarship.
