2026 Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) Storytelling Fellowship for Environmental Journalists in West Africa

The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), in partnership with the UNESCO Global Media Defence Fund (GMDF), invites environmental journalists to apply for a six-month storytelling fellowship. This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of journalists to conduct investigative reporting on cases of violence against environmental reporters, while supporting the production, publication, and dissemination of these stories in line with international standards.
FELLOWSHIP OBJECTIVES
- Provide training and mentorship for journalists who report attacks against environmental journalists.
- Strengthen capacity for investigative reporting.
- Produce and publish stories on violence against environmental reporters.
- Disseminate work in line with international standards.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Professional journalists currently resident in Ghana, Liberia, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
- Freelance/Independent and Female journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.
TIMELINE
