2026 9th Next Generation Investigative Journalism Fellowship for Ghanaian Nationals.

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), is inviting applications from young journalism graduates, early career journalists and other young professionals with a passion for journalism in Ghana to participate in the 9th edition of the Next Generation Investigative Journalism (NGIJ) Fellowship.The fellowship is focused on accountability journalism and anti-corruption reporting.
Overall, the project seeks to strengthen the capacity of the media, especially investigative journalists, to produce investigative reports corruption – related issues and promote accountability that addresses socio-economic disparities. The project further seeks to promote an improved environment for press freedom and freedom of expression in Ghana.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1. Open to journalism graduates, early-career journalists and young professionals with a passion for journalism.
2. Applicants must commit to full participation in the residential program (from September to November 2026).
3. Females and journalists outside the Greater Accra Region are encouraged to apply & This opportunity is open for Ghanaian nationals.
BENEFITS
1. Training on Anti-corruption and Accountability Reporting, RTI Law, Data Journalism and Fact Checking etc.
2. Mentorship and practical training with the MFWA’s Independent Journalism Projects: Fact-Check Ghana and The Fourth Estate.
3. Financial and editorial support to produce at least one key investigative/in-depth story and contribute to producing a group story.
4. A Certificate of Honour upon successful completion.
5. Monthly stipend.

2.Two published news articles (print, TV, radio, or online) for journalists or a published blog post for other professionals.
3. Letter of consent from your employer (for staff journalists).
