2025 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Rwanda for Young Africans (Fully Funded)

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Rwanda is pleased to launch the call for application for Mastercard Foundation Scholarships at the University of Rwanda for the academic year 2025/2026. This scholarship opportunity is open to African students of all gender and regions with limited access to opportunities.
The scholarship is one of the approaches for achieving Young Africa Works Strategy which aims to enable 30 million young people across Africa to access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030, with a focus on young women, refugees and displaced persons, and people with disabilities. The applicants to this scholarship will have applied for admission into first year’s UR academic programs for the academic year 2025/2026 which are also eligible for the scholarship by Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UR.
ELIGIBLE PROGRAMS
Most programs at University of Rwanda’s colleges are eligible, especially those in:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM)
- Agriculture, Health Sciences, Education, and Business
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Citizens of African countries (including Rwandans)
- Refugees or displaced youth with recognized documentation
- Applicants who meet University of Rwanda admission requirements
- Those with strong academic performance, leadership potential, and a commitment to give back to their communities
- Undergraduate: 28 years old or younger (up to 30 for special groups)
- Postgraduate: Up to 40 years (males) and 45 years (females)

- Apply for admission at UR through efiling.ur.ac.rw
- Once admitted, submit a scholarship application on The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Rwanda portal
- Upload required documents: national exam results, ID or refugee card, personal statement, disability certificate (if applicable)
