2022 UNOY Consultancy: Lead Researchers in Cameroon and Nigeria Recruitment

United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), is a global network of over 120 youth peacebuilding organizations in over 60 countries. UNOY works for capacity development of individuals and organizations, networking and policy advocacy.

Each of the researchers will conduct a baseline study in either Nigeria or Cameroon on the status of the implementation of UNSCR 2250 and AU’s Continental Framework on YPS through desk review of existing policies and programmes, and interviews with key actors, including policy-makers, officers in
relevant ministries of government, UN entities, CSOs, youth groups and other relevant stakeholders across each country respectively.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main tasks

  1. Design research tools/instruments
  2. Support the recruitment of data collectors and oversee the data collection process.
  3. Conduct a desk review of policies and programs in the implementation of UNSCR 2250 and the AU continental framework on YPS
  4. Oversee the conduct of 18 key informant interviews and three focus group discussions in Cameroon and Nigeria respectively
  5. Prepare a baseline survey report of 10 pages and a summary of the report highlighting key findings.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. ONLY APPLICANTS BASED IN NIGERIA OR CAMEROON ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY
  2. They strongly encourage qualified applicants under the age of 35 to apply
  3. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and possession of a Master’s degree in peace studies, conflict prevention or related studies would be an added advantage.
  4. Must have at least three years experience in research on youth engagement and policy implementation in Nigeria and Cameroon.
  5. Must be skilled in using appropriate software to analyze data.
  6. Must be able to work with a team and take a leadership position.
  7. Must be able to independently conduct research with minimum supervision.
  8. Have good and consistent access to the internet and familiarity with online tools for communication and sharing resources.
  9. Knowledge on the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda
  10. Great command of English.
  11. Familiarity with the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda
  12. Familiarity with African Union Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security and either Cameroonian or Nigerian frameworks on policy implementation
  13. Experience working in the area of peacebuilding and meaningful youth participation.
