2020 WHO / UN Volunteers Africa Women Health Champions Program

UNV and the World Health Organization (WHO) have launched an initiative to recruit early to middle career women professionals in Africa to promote health and boost gender equity across 47 countries in the region.  

UNV will recruit around 100 national and international UN Volunteers from around the world, with a special focus on the recruitment of female professionals, nationals from the African continent, who have at least two years of professional experience related to public health, epidemiology, health research, health emergency management, data management, statistics or other health related fields, as well as information management, innovation, communications or external relations.

REQUIREMENT

1. Candidates need to have at least two years of professional experience

2. Be at least 22 years old for national UN Volunteer assignments, and at least 25 years old for international UN Volunteer assignments.

3. This joint initiative targets nationals of the African continent and female professionals are particularly encouraged to apply. 

Languages 

  • English and French for Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Guinea Conakry, Madagascar, Mali, Rwanda and Togo. 
  • English and Portuguese for Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe. 
  • French and Arabic for Algeria.
  • English for Eritrea, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.

BENEFITS

Fellows are provided monthly living allowance to cover housing, basic needs and utilities; settling-in-grant; life, health and permanent disability insurance; return airfares.
