2019 Center for Development Research VSFS eIntern for U.S. College Students

CDR is home to a great group of people, who work together to promote our mission. Our programs help: bring universities, their students and faculty to the forefront of development work; facilitate the translation of research to impact, for global development across regions + sectors; improve USAID’s use of research; generate evidence through innovative research approaches; overcome barriers that researchers and institutions in low and middle income countries face in conducting research; and build in-country capacity for research though creative partnerships.
CDR is seeking up to two eInterns to assist with a variety of functions across the Center’s portfolio. CDR will develop a plan based on the needs of Center teams and interests of the eIntern(s). We expect the eIntern(s) will receive broad exposure to CDR’s teams and programming priorities, and participate in diverse project tasks, ranging from short-term to long-term projects. This experience is a fantastic opportunity for motivated eIntern(s) to learn about and contribute to the use of science and research in international development programming.
1. Social Media & Communications – The eInterns may help promote CDR by developing content for CDR’s multi-platform social media campaign, and assist with outreach and engagement, both inside and outside USAID.
2. Research – Assist with research, data, and analysis projects or pursue research projects of mutual interest to CDR and the eIntern.
3. Monitoring & Evaluation Support – Assist with the data collection and management of M&E data, including development of annual and bi-annual reports for distribution.
4. Multimedia Engagement/Communication Products Support – Assist with planning and designing webinars, drafting content for products such as newsletters, blogs, and reports.

2. Specific knowledge or skills required for this project: Interest in the potential of science, technology, and innovation for global development. Ability to conduct independent research. Strong research, writing, and communication skills (written and verbal). Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
3. The following skills/experience are desired, but not required:
Blog posting/moderation; Graphic design; MS Office platform (including Microsoft Publisher); Research (web or other platform); Social/new media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube); Web chat forums (Skype/Adobe Connect); Proficiency with Google Drive.
