2024 Climate Tracker Climate Journalism Mentoring Program for Journalists from Argentina, Mexico and Brazil

Deadline: May 9, 2024.

Climate Tracker is proud to present the sixth cycle of its Climate Journalism Mentoring Program, exclusively for Argentina, Mexico and Brazil, within the framework of the imminent G20. During this cycle they will do a few different things.

In this training initiative, each participant faces the challenge of creating three high-impact stories about the energy transition in Latin America. In these texts, the common challenges of three Latin American giants: Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, seen as the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in the region, will be addressed.

The journalists will delve into key issues ranging from fossil fuels to renewable energy, examining public policies, energy projects, finance and socio-environmental conflicts, among other crucial aspects, coinciding with the G20 energy ministers’ meeting, which will be held on November 18 and 19 in Rio de Janeiro.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

This opportunity is aimed at journalists based in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil who are willing to tell stories about the energy transition in the region.

Both journalists working in the media and those working independently are welcome to apply. It is a training and learning experience, which you can combine with the rest of your responsibilities.

Ideal candidates:

  • They will have at least one year of experience in journalism.
  • They will demonstrate an obvious interest in environmental and climate issues.
  • They will attend the live conversation.
  • They will present a convincing journalistic proposal (after the discussion).

In addition, we will value curiosity and commitment, as this learning experience is designed for you to get the most out of. It’s your chance to stand out and contribute to the dialogue about the future of Latin America!

PHASES/BENEFITS

Phase 1

Participants will be immersed in an interesting live discussion (approximately 60 minutes) about the energy transition and climate change in their countries. They will be joined by local referents, as well as former fellows of our mentoring program, who will share key tips on how to address these issues.
